Hotel Touring Bologna

An understated but comfortable 4-star boutique hotel. During a June 2023 visit the lavish breakfast buffet was impressive. Mini-split a/c in our room meant we could dial a precise comfort level. Located within the city center but at the southern edge, so quieter. Good neighborhood restaurants a few steps away. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Our stay at Hotel Touring was spectacular! The hotel atmosphere is inviting, modern yet old world, and warm. It is conveniently located and is walkable to many sites, resturuants, and shopping. The staff is helpful and courteous. Special shout out to Julia, Marco and Elena. Their professionalism and knowledge is, bar none. They were always willing to lend a helping hand. Which we truly appreciated. We were celebrating our anniversary during our stay, and without our knowledge the management upgraded our room to a junior suite, with a lovely terrace and beautiful tapestry ceiling. If you are traveling to Bologna (which I highly suggest you do), Hotel Touring is the place to stay.

The hotel is in an excellent position for visiting the historical sites in Bologna. Everything is within easy walking distance. The public areas of the hotel are clean and attractive. An excellent buffet breakfast is served each day. The staff are pleasant, helpful and efficient. The bedrooms are extremely dated (circa 1980) and basic. My husband and I booked a double room. Our bed was two singles pushed together covered with a flat sheet that was not large enough to tuck in. The mattress and pillows were as hard as bricks. There was no duvet, just a top sheet and a thin throw....just as well the weather was warm.

As our taxi approached Hotel Touring, we were initially hesitant because of its off the beaten path location. However, all hesitations were removed as soon as we stepped through the doors of this wonderful boutique hotel. We were warmly greeted by Giulia who gave us restaurant recommendations and a map that acclimated us to the area. Our room was ultra modern and sleek, with a comfortable bathroom and large shower. The roof top terrace/bar has expansive views of Bologna, comfy seating and a hot tub for in season use. There is also a charming library/reading room with outdoor seating on the lobby floor. The location is within easy walking to Piazza Maggiore and the quadrilateral, which are filled with excellent restaurants and gelaterias. Hotel Touring offers one of the best breakfast buffets we’ve encountered in Europe. Along with traditional American breakfast items like bacon and eggs, there are a nice selection of local salamis and cheeses. The staff was very courteous, especially Julia who made us feel welcome. Overall, a gem of a hotel!

Pros: the staff are excellent. Very friendly and helpful. The roof terrace has brilliant views across the city and is a great place to start your evening. Breakfast has a wide selection for a continental style breakfast. The location is very central and everything was walking distance. Our room had a lovely shower. Areas to improve: stained mattress cover but was replaced immediately. The room we had was very dated in decor and did not have very good light and no view. I was given a class with lipstick still on it in the bar. Staff changed it straight away. Overall this is a good value hotel.
